VOLVO OCEAN RACE ALICANTE
The Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18 will be the thirteenth edition of the Volvo Ocean Race. The launch of the sailing race around the world will take place with a port race on October 14, 2017 in the Spanish city of Alicante. After 11 stages and 11 port races, the boats will finish in The Hague, near the port of Scheveningen.
This year promises to be a big success, especially for Alicante, partly due to the award as a starting point for the races of 2020 and 2023. This means, of course, that many thousands of visitors come to the city, expecting the local economy to receive an injection of Almost 300 million euros and about 5000 jobs are being created. And what about the many international journalists who of course give free publicity to Alicante and Costa Blanca, which is a good opportunity to put themselves on the map.
This edition will be more accessible to the public than previous editions and include music festivals, exhibitions and local entertainment. Thousands of guests will be encouraged to stay outside the port of Alicante and explore the area. Thus, a "Race-Village Olimpic Style" will be built and charity settings are also of the party.
All in all, be sure to discover the Costa Blanca life and enjoy all the beauty that this beautiful region has to offer.
