Three Loggerhead Turtles Returned to the Wild
The turtles are aged 17, 9 and 4 years of age, two having been rescued from La Manga after becoming entangled in fishing nets and the third rescued after injury by naval divers from the military base in Cartagena. They have all after veterinary care and attention, been released back into the sea.The Loggerhead turtle are an endangered species and the majority are losing their lives due to human negligence such as unattended fishing equipment and rubbish in the ocean. Fitted with microchips, the turtles have been released back into the wild, the chips will provide vital information to help scientists and marine biologists learn how to better protect this majestic creature.
