SAX, Alicante Province Valencia Region

Sax is a small rural town in the province of Alicante and the region of Valencia. It's a beautiful place with stunning architecture and the most wonderful people.There's no doubt that this picturesque town of Sax is best known for its castle which towers above the town and can be seen for miles around. Much of the castle dates from the tenth century although the Levante Tower was added in the 12th century. The castle remains in an excellent state of preservation. Take your time and make the effort to make the steep climb you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. At the beginning of February each year Sax celebrates the Moors and Christians Fiesta with almost a week of celebrations which includes a colourful marching parade and battle through the narrow streets of the historic centre. Situated only a couple of kilometers from Villena, a town with an equally stunning castle,there is a mainline station with regular services including a high speed service to Madrid. Modern-day Sax is a great place to live a typical Spanish town with all the modern facilities you could require plus a beautiful historic centre narrow Moorish style streets to explore. and ideally located only 35 minutes from the sea and Alicante Airport only 40 minutes to Alicante city centre.
