A total of 26 blue flags will fly on the beaches of the Vega Baja in 2024
The Vega Baja will once again be coloured with the 26 blue flags that will fly on the beaches that have received this distinction this 2024.
Orihuela will have 10 blue flags this year: Punta Prima, La Zenia-Cala Bosque, Cabo Roig-La Caleta, Cala Capitán, Aguamarina, Campoamor-La Glea, Barranco Rubio, Cala Mosca, Cala Cerrada and Mil Palmeras, making it the city with the most blue flags in the entire Valencian Community.
Torrevieja, Guardamar del Segura and Pilar de la Horadada have retained their blue flags. Torrevieja maintains this distinction in Cabo Cervera, Cala de las Piteras, El Cura, Los Locos, Los Náufragos and Torrelamata-Sur. In addition, Torrevieja receives the Special Mention 2024 in Environmental Education.
Pilar de la Horadada will also have the same six blue flags as in 2023 on the Conde, Higuericas, Jesuitas, Mil Palmeras, Puerto and Rocamar beaches. For its part, Guardamar del Segura will boast blue flags on the Centre, El Moncaio, La Roqueta and Dels Vivers beaches.
The Blue Flag is a distinction awarded annually at international level by the European Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) to those beaches and marinas that meet a series of requirements that guarantee their quality in relation to the environment and sustainable development of tourism.
The physical form of the Blue Flag is a flag with a blue background and a white logo, which is flown at the beaches and marinas that have been awarded the Blue Flag. It is the way of informing the user that a beach has passed the demanding criteria for achieving it.
