A new pedestrian arch bridge over the Segura river in Rojales
The bridge, with a budget of 491,000 euros and a span of 52 metres, will connect the two banks of the Segura river, at the point of Malecón de la Tejera street and the Recinto Ferial, some five hundred metres downstream from the river weir and the historic Carlos III bridge, located in the centre of the town.
The new infrastructure aims to provide a shorter and safer link between the town centre of Rojales and 'its future expansion', according to the project, with different areas of the municipality, in particular the Rojales street market, one of the most important in the region.
The projected works consist of the construction of an arched pedestrian walkway, made of metal profiles with a circular section and a reinforced concrete deck, connected to the arch by means of stainless steel traction bar hangers. The configuration is a single-span footbridge of 52 metres in length, without intermediate piers to avoid affecting the public hydraulic domain.
The work could be completed in early 2025.
